A lightweight Instant Messenger for Linux... Fedora / Centos


If you are looking for a lightweight, native (not java based) Instant Messenger for your Linux Distribution (available also for Windows and MacOS), look no further. Pidgin is here.

As their web site says pidgin is an easy to use and free chat client used by millions. Connect to AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and more chat networks all at once.

In case your company has an XMPP Server such as Openfire, pidgin is compatible with it.

For Fedora Installation simply run:

$sudo yum install pidgin pidgin-guifications pidgin-libnotify pidgin-logviewer -y

It will install pidgin and a couple of useful plugins to make your life easier.
